ABOUT
Seventy Two School of Ministry journeys with disciples as they become more like Christ…
…walking in-step with the Spirit according to the will of the Father for the sake of the world. Through 72’s three-emphasis approach, you will increase your love for God and his ministry on earth while identifying and developing the gifts he’s given you. Seventy Two graduates will go on to maintain the healthy and multiplicative ministry of Christ, answering the call to go and make disciples in the manner they were uniquely created to do so.
Seventy Two focuses on three key areas of discipleship: Spiritual Formation, Education and Ministry Experience. Year One focuses on Spiritual Formation and students will develop a rule of life based on ancient Christian practices, read through the entire Bible, and explore the five ministries of Jesus as outlined in Ephesians 4:11, determining how you might be gifted to lead. Year Two is an apprenticeship in the area of ministry students are called to, giving real, practical experience to equip and prepare you for the future. Throughout Years One and Two, you will also participate in 10 eight-week courses to provide the educational foundation that healthy ministry leadership requires. Each of these areas of discipleship can be done at Springs Community Church or, for those not in Colorado Springs, classes can be done remotely and 72 leaders will equip your home church to provide the formation and ministry experience.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS
In the past, those who felt a call to vocational ministry only had one choice – attend seminary and earn a Master’s degree. That path of training is valuable and important but also out of reach for many who want to serve God in this way but cannot afford the time or cost of such an education. The Seventy Two School of Ministry Certificate Track provides the formation, education and ministry experience that the leaders of tomorrow’s churches will need, at an affordable cost and as conveniently as their home church, in just two years’ time. Upon completion of the full program, candidates would be eligible for ordination with the Alliance of Reformed Churches.
But there are also those among the followers of Jesus who, in their desire to love him with all of their hearts, souls, and minds, long for the same type of formation, education or ministry experience as those who make ministry their vocation. To you we say, journey with 72 for a single class, several classes over several years or through the formation program alone. Seventy Two is committed to customizing your journey to match the unique work God is doing in you.
Each component of the 72 curriculum is designed to be a complement to the rest of life’s demands on your time. Classes and formation groups meet in the evenings or weekends and should add no more than 5-7 hours of commitment to your week. Seventy Two will also give credit for any past experience or education that correlates with our courses, making the best use of your time over the two-year period.
NOT IN COLORADO SPRINGS?
Seventy Two School of Ministry is committed to being accessible to anyone, regardless of where they live and serve. Coursework will be available by Zoom and 72 leaders will work with you to determine the best way to make the spiritual formation and internship experiences as meaningful and vibrant as possible. That may mean participating in the spiritual formation groups remotely or equipping the spiritual leaders in your life to lead you through both spiritual formation and the internship.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Seventy Two believes spiritual discipleship and education should be accessible to anyone willing to start the journey.
